What to include
- Session date and location
- Shoot duration and hourly/half-day/full-day rate
- Number of edited images included
- Additional editing charged separately
- Licensing terms: personal, commercial, duration, territory
- Travel fee if applicable
- Retainer or deposit paid (listed as a deduction)
- Delivery format and timeline
Pro tips for photography invoices
- 1. Always separate the session fee from the editing fee — clients understand why both exist.
- 2. Licensing is often forgotten. State clearly what the client can and can't do with the images.
- 3. If a deposit was collected, show it as a deduction on the final invoice.
- 4. Specify the delivery method: Dropbox, Google Drive, WeTransfer. Reduces back-and-forth.
